This website was developed to complement a module offered to History major students at the National University of Singapore and also for a broader audience of history enthusiasts with an interest in maritime history and the ports of Asia.
Dr Donna Brunero is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of History and the main administrator for this website. Her research interests (and teaching areas) include maritime history, imperial history, piracy, heritage, and in particular the British presence in Asia in the 18th-20th centuries. She is currently co-editing a volume on Empire in Asia in the long-nineteenth century, as part of the Empire in Asia project in the Department of History, NUS.
The research and technical support aspects of this project was largely supported through a grant by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and the efforts of two research assistants: Miss Foo Ming Yee and Mr Chng Shao Kai.
